Our History
The REALTOR® Association of Southern Kentucky, Inc. was established in 1937 as the Bowling Green Board of REALTORS®, Inc. In 1997 the name was officially changed as a result of the expanded areas of service the association offers. The Association represents over 600 members who are involved in all aspects of real estate in Allen, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Muhlenberg, Simpson and Warren Counties. Over 100 affiliated business partners also hold membership in the Association.
The Association is governed by a Board of Directors and served by volunteer committees. The dedication of the volunteers who have contributed countless hours of service attribute to the success of the association. An association staff of three is given the responsibility for the operations and implementation of the programs, products and services provided to its members.
Multiple Listing Service
Real Estate Information Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Association, operates a computerized MLS that processes over 2,500 listings annually. The distributed and web-based system features the latest MLS software. Also offered by the MLS is one of the most sophisticated electronic lockbox services in the country.
Professional Standards
Settle your commission disputes and other complaints with members through the Associations arbitration and professional standard services. This allows REALTORS® and their customers and clients to resolve disputes for a fraction of the cost involved in civil proceedings. Also available through the state association is a REALTOR®-to-REALTOR® mediation service. This totally voluntary service allows REALTORS® to mediate commission differences by a trained REALTOR® member.
Representation
The association assures that business interests and private property rights are protected at the Local, State and National level. The REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) is the largest PAC in the United States and supports candidates and causes annually that have a direct impact on real estate interests.
Education
Education courses are provided throughout the year to members free of charge or at a substantially reduced price and to REALTOR® members of other associations. Most courses offered are approved for KY continuing education credit and post-license education credit with the Kentucky Real Estate Commission. The Association also works with the Kentucky Real Estate Education Foundation (KREEF) and the National Association of REALTORS® to provide REALTOR® designation courses.
